GNOME on Reddit
- Created My First Extension (2025/12/05 02:40)I got myself a new laptop last week, and after installing Arch btw with GNOME, I was inspired to learn how to create your own extensions. While the motivation behind this project was mostly educational, I still wanted to share it with the world for anyone who may find this useful. Essential Tweaks – A GNOME Shell extension that allows you to tweak some annoying defaults and enable quality of life features. This also counts as my first finished side project! ^^ submitted by /u/16N-DEE32 [link] [comments]
- AppImage thumbnailer (2025/12/04 23:11)appimage-thumbnailer v2 just got released, now completely rewritten in C. It is a lightweight utility that seamlessly integrates AppImage thumbnailing into GNOME. It extracts icons directly from AppImages using efficient in-memory processing, ensuring very fast and accurate previews in Files and ensuring freedesktop.org spec. Get it on Github: https://github.com/kem-a/appimage-thumbnailer submitted by /u/kemma_ [link] [comments]
- Bazaar: Release 0.6.0 (2025/12/04 21:49)Hey everyone! I just released a new version of Bazaar yesterday, with all sorts of improvements, including async refresh. This means you can do anything in the app, including installing and removing applications, while the program is refreshing state!! No more loading screens. I hope you like it!!! submitted by /u/kolunmi [link] [comments]
- Wi-Fi icon appears with a question mark (2025/12/04 20:40)With Debian 13 on two notebooks, the Wi-Fi icon appears with a question mark, but the internet works fine; it's just a graphical issue. As you can see in the video, just click on the connection and the question mark disappears. If I restart the PC, the problem reappears. Does anyone know how to solve this problem permanently? https://reddit.com/link/1peb5la/video/ialqh63q095g1/player submitted by /u/RealAd6315 [link] [comments]
- Text padding or margin is not right. How to reset gnome and fix that. (2025/12/04 19:42)https://preview.redd.it/o8khzlnrp85g1.png?width=1992&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4f16fa277b4ca7345614c2c98a32e98de655bd5 Not sure what caused this but it is on user level. I tried themes and that messed things up. Now I want to do full reset. I already did dconf reset -f / dconf dump / rm -rf ~/.cache/gtk-* ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css ~/.config/gtk-4.0/gtk.css rm -rf ~/.themes ~/.icons rm -rf ~/.config/gtk-3.0 ~/.config/gtk-4.0 rm -rf ~/.local/share/themes ~/.local/share/icons rm -f ~/.config/qt5ct/qt5ct.conf ~/.config/qt6ct/qt6ct.conf rm -rf ~/.cache/gtk-* ~/.cache/gnome-software rm -rf ~/.cache/gnome-software gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.desktop.interface gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.shell gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.mutter gsettings reset-recursively org.gnome.desktop.background but still the look as the screenshot. Any other reset to do ? Using nixos but all the tweaking with not via nix config. Apologies if this is asked before but could not find similar problem posted anywhere specially after full reset like that. submitted by /u/BigBad0 [link] [comments]
- What happened to the Gnome Docs? (2025/12/04 19:38)I am doing some admin work, and I normally use https://help.gnome.org/admin for documentation, but the page 404s on me. All the links online I've found juts point me back to a similar 404 page. Is Gnome moving their docs somewhere, or is something broken? submitted by /u/mpg319 [link] [comments]

- Problem with GSConnect: Duplicate device in Nautilus (2025/12/04 15:45)https://preview.redd.it/p67amj9vi75g1.png?width=360&format=png&auto=webp&s=3a5532edb8b398a052f66dae99c8b2de4b82f4d1 Hello everyone, I recently installed GSConnect to transfer some files, but I've run into a strange problem: my device appears duplicated in the Nautilus (GNOME) context menu, even though only one device is shown as connected in the GSConnect settings. I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the problem persists. Does anyone know how to remove the duplicate or prevent it from appearing? I'm using Ubuntu 25.10. Thanks in advance for any help! submitted by /u/maximus10m [link] [comments]
- Mounting a Sharepoint folder under GNOME Nautilus? (2025/12/04 15:00)I just tried and failed to follow instructions to get my Windows 11 workstation to do it, so I have less than zero confidence that there's an open source way to do this. I can already mount shared network drives under Nautilus, but that's because those are just ordinary Samba shares. Once I pried my proper user name, workgroup name, and smb:\\ URL for each drive out of corporate IT, it just works. Microsoft Sharepoint folders, however, are a whole `nother fettle of kish. I find my corporate Sharepoint intensely impossible to navigate. Different projects that I'm associated with have completely different Sharepoint homepages, so I can't just surf from one to the other, and trying to cite a documentation location to a colleague in a concise manner is impossible. All I can do is copy and page the specific folder's URL, and bookmarks are of marginal utility, but they do help. submitted by /u/EmbedSoftwareEng [link] [comments]

- How to fix flickering animated cursor (2025/12/04 14:13)I'm trying to set up an animated cursor originally made for Windows. I used win2xcur to convert the ani files to xcursor and was able to set it up in tweaks. But it keeps constantly flickering even when I am not moving my cursor. - Sub-menu pop-up is white, how to change? (2025/12/04 10:11)Hi, whatever I do, the menu popup windows are white, which is a bit of an eyesore. How do I make the color for this match my GTK3/GTK4 theme? The extension is 'AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support'. I'm on Pop OS beta, gnome 46 session xorg. I've managed to fix every other broken menu, but not this one. Any tips appreciated submitted by /u/GumGumStrawHat [link] [comments]

- I did a thing… here is my Firefox Aubergine Style Theme! (2025/12/04 01:09)I just had an idea the other night, what if I could take the Ubuntu terminal colors and make that look in Firefox. And thus this theme was created! Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think. I think it looks the best during the nighttime. This theme was created with Firefox Color add-on so it's easy to install and try. Install theme from Firefox Add-ons: Aubergine Adwaita GTK4 Dark - Firefox add-ons: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/aubergine-adwaita-gtk4-dark/ If you enjoy it, please feel free to rate it and thank you for giving it a try, very much appreciate you. submitted by /u/dswhite85 [link] [comments]

- How to change my workflow? (2025/12/03 16:27)I am using KDE last 2 months after hyprland. I found a way to make it work in quite efficient way via keyboard. I changed shortcut of Terminal to Meta+T, Browser to Meta+W, just like most Hyprland setups. Removed default dock pinned apps so I can select apps just like workplaces on Hyprland, Meta+[digit]. How to efficiently bring my setup into Gnome or even make it more effective? I heard that there is a built in support for switching workspaces via Meta+[digit] submitted by /u/Snezhok_Youtuber [link] [comments]
