  • [SOLVED] firefox 149 won't download or save pages (2026/05/05 13:10)
V1del wrote:How are you starting i3? if via xinitrc, ensure you've read the second blue note to make sure your user session is setup correctly: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xinit#xinitrcIf this doesn't help, please open a new thread describing how you start i3.As for the parameters seth mentions, those are firefox options and you find them by writing "about:config" in it's address bar. But the fact the portal doesn't work in the first place is likely a session misconfiguration.Hi Videl, thanks for pointing me out this part of the xinitrc. My xinitrc was pretty old and it had not the last if. After loading and restarting i3 with the scripts the various menus in gtk4 work correctly. I also checked sway and apparently everything works correctly already. The issue is solved for me too without the need of downgrading anything.

Is that Chromium running on Wayland and all other programs, where it works, running on XWayland/X11?
  • Minecraft crashes with system provided runtime (2026/05/04 22:23)
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=313057 -- basically a JDK bug that should get fixed there. if you read the mailing list there's bug open on the openjdk bug tracker.Technically you could fix it by rebuilding with LTO disabled, but I doubt Arch wants to move off from that just for this case.
  • Handling suspend on idle/DPMS/screen locking on I3WM. (2026/05/04 17:15)
I found a forum post that said that running two different xautolock instances would not work, but I'ts worth a try.I know of xss-lock and it works as it should. The problem with xss-lock for me is handling the suspend, systemd's inactivity to suspend seems to not always work so well, for instance when I've tested it sometimes it didn't suspend my system at all. Running xss-lock with xautolock seems like it would work but it would not be a very clean solution in my eyes.I have however been running some tests in the background and it seemed to work now (?) (systemd handling inactivity).Thank you for the suggestions, I'll continue my testing.

  • Spotify unable to play music (2026/05/04 07:42)
Have you tried clearing all application data including the cache? (e.g. all spotify folders in .config, .local/share and .cache)Perhaps also from within the app settings, including a logout?edit: What sound server do you use? https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Sound_ … nd_servers
  • GDM 50 fails with custom XDG_CONFIG_HOME set in pam_env.conf (2026/05/04 06:29)
I see the following in my system log:https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 8#p2290198"Spam"GDM now no longer presents a login greeter and instead automatically creates a session for the gdm-greeter user.GDM /is/ a gnome session of the gdm user, just a special one - this has likely been an issue since GDM dropped the static user (pretty sure v49, https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/-/work_items/1028 & https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gdm/-/me … te_2572548 ) and now only results in this symptom.
  • nouveau ddx causes Mate Desktop to freeze, modesetting ddx does not (2026/05/03 23:35)
Pretty sure this has been largely the reccommended mode of operandi for nouveau for years. However please note the age of the thread and don't necrobump a 5 year old one: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Genera … bumping%22
  • xwayland scaling is wrong (2026/05/03 21:32)
Bevan wrote:I have the same problem with some applications, in particular VirtualBox VMs. Enabling fractional XWayland scaling does not change the behavior. My setup may be a bit special in that I use a notebook with external monitor connected with the integrated display set to 125% scaling and the external display to 100%. Still, this worked fine until a recent update.@koroki, do you know if there is an upstream bug report about this already? As seth wrote, I opened an issue. In my case, I solve the problem with that command:gsettings set org.gnome.mutter.wayland xwayland-scaling-factor 1It is not in the Arch wiki and I could find on internet. I'm not sure if it is new.
  • poedit does not find hunspell dictionary (2026/05/03 20:26)
@yochananmarqos Thank you for pointing out gtranslator as an alternative for poedit. You are right that the warnings for hspell and libvoikko are just warnings and not relevant for the hunspell error.I would expect that the error about the missing hunspell directory can be easily resolved and I have filed an issue here: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … rk_items/2

  • [RESOLVED] Media playback stops working after waking from sleep (2026/05/02 22:21)
Ah, sorry - I though you were talking about "echo ${DEV}" - the sleep hook isn't run by your user, you would have to import the environment from a different context (your session process) or indeed just hardcode it.nb. that pw-link is likewise not run by your user, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Power_ … temd_units
